Watch live programming streams of local CBS affiliates in 124 markets

Note: This is an updated version of a post from 2015

In 2015 CBS launched CBS All Access – which for $5.99 a month lets you watch tons of CBS including many old episodes.

If you live close to CBS affiliates you can also watch the local station’s live feed.  That included most content with the exception of live sporting events (now a lot of sporting events are also included!).

With a little tweeking to your firefox browser you can watch ANY of the live TV stations from across the country.  This could be really handy if you live out West and want to watch a show live at 5pm instead of waiting for 8pm for it to broadcast in your area.  Another way to use it would be if you live in the East, miss a show and don’t want to wait until the next day to watch it, you could catch a show that aired at 8pm locally when it airs around 11pm your time in California (make sense??).

I am using the following plugin to tell CBS I live in NYC – or LA or MN – (see list below for locations) and with it I can then watch the local CBS feed.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fake-location/

Using the Firefox web browser you download and install the above plug in.  Once it is installed you restart your browser and click on the little icon to set a location to ‘fake’ – then you log into your CBS All Access account and click Live TV and you should see the local CBS affiliate LIVE.  A perfect way to watch your favorite show when your local station has it pre-empted for a live sports event or something else.  Maybe watch a LIVE eviction show?

There are other ways to accomplish the same thing – but this one for me was the easiest and most flexible – I was tuning in local news all over the USA after setting up multiple ‘locations.’

Note:  I would LOVE to provide a link to sign up for the live feeds but I am concerned that I would lose my affiliate relationship (even though I am just helping everyone have the same access since we are all paying $6 a months!). So PLEASE sign up for the feeds through links on your favorite BB site or twitter.

The following list is from 2015 – there are apparently now a lot more locations – you can just try plugging in different cities to see what works for you. I tested Miami and Los Angeles.

Currently listed cities (stations) include: Augusta, GA – Aiken, SC (WRDW) —- Baltimore, MD (WJZ) —- Boston, MA – Manchester, NH (WBZ) —- Chicago, IL (WBBM) —- Charlottesville, VA (WCAV) —- Colorado Springs – Pueblo, CO (KKTV) —- Columbus, OH (WBNS) —- Dallas – Ft. Watch over 30 CBS stations online using Geolocation

Last fall CBS launched CBS All Access – which for $5.99 a month lets you watch tons of CBS including many old episodes.

If you lived in a handful of cities you could also watch the local station’s live feed.  That included most content with the exception of live sporting events.

Today I signed up again in preparation for the upcoming Big Brother season (the ‘live feeds’ are also shown on All Access) and discovered that number of stations is over 30.  Thats a TON!  I’ve listed them at the end of this post.

Additionally, with a little tweeking to your firefox browser you can watch any of those live TV stations from anywhere else.

You will need to roll up your sleeves and get your hands a little dirty to make this work but I know many of you are up to the challenge.

Note:  I started this over a week ago and just don’t have time to get into great detail.  Hopefully you can take this info and run with it and watch your favorite CBS show LIVE where ever you are located.

Also Note:  I would LOVE to provide a link to sign up for the live feeds but I am concerned that I would lose my affiliate relationship (even though I am just helping everyone have the same access since we are all paying $6 a months!).
